In the Montessori approach, studying animal adaptations helps children understand the natural world, develop scientific thinking, and appreciate the interconnectedness of life by examining how animals survive and thrive in their specific environments.

Identify, sort, and classify the animals according to their adaptation characteristics. Check the classification using the control chart.

NOTE: This material comes in two variations for two skill levels.

Set 1 includes a one word description and the name of the animal on each label (example: "dormant bear" for the trait of hibernation).

Set 2 includes only the name of the animal ("sheep" for the trait of living together).

Sorting cards are approx. 3½" x 3½".
