In the Montessori approach, studying the animal kingdom is designed to enhance a child's understanding of the natural world and to cultivate an appreciation for diversity. This method also aims to develop empathy and respect for living creatures while providing a structured foundation for understanding animal classification.

The picture cards are in a three-part format:

  • 17 picture with labels
  • 17 picture without labels
  • 17 labels

To use three-part cards, match the labels to the corresponding pictures. Verify the matches using the control cards with the labels.

Cards are approx. 3½" x 3¼", cards without labels are approx. 1" shorter. Charts print on 8½" x 11" paper.
