Types of Shorelines

Shorelines are dynamic areas where energy is expended, erosion takes place, and sediment is transported and deposited. Teaching about various shorelines is essential because coastlines are dynamic environments that support high biodiversity, drive human settlement and economies, and reveal critical Earth processes.

This set includes four types of shorelines: rocky, sediment, mixed rock-and-sediment, and anthropogenic.

Identify and classify these four types of shorelines. Then, use the control chart to verify the classifications.

Includes:

  • 4 category cards
  • 4 information cards
  • 12 cards of various shorelines
  • 12 definition cards
  • 1 control chart

Cards are approx. 5" x 7½", control chart is 8½" x 11".
