Properties of Geometric Solids

The Properties of Geometric Solids helps children build their understanding of geometry. They do this by introducing the properties of 3D shapes (solids) through a hands-on, concrete approach that bridges visual and tactile perception with abstract interpretation.

Ideally, use these cards alongside actual geometric solids. Identify and classify the shapes by their properties, including names, edges, faces, and vertices. Use the control chart to verify the classifications.

Solids included: sphere, cone, ovoid, cube, square-based pyramid, triangular prism, rectangular prism, cylinder, ellipsoid, and triangle-based pyramid.

This set includes:
  • 10 geometric solids
  • 3 description cards (edge, face, vertex)
  • 3 illustration cards (edge, face, vertex)
  • 40 labels for sorting (names, edges, faces, vertices)
  • 1 control chart
Cards are approx. 2¾" x 3½", labels are 1" x 2½", control chart is 8½" x 11".
