Types of Leaf Arrangements

Examining leaves through activities such as sorting, identifying, and exploring their parts helps develop children's sensory, cognitive, and language skills while introducing them to botany and the natural world.

Identify and classify leaf arrangements. Then, use the control chart to verify the classifications. This set includes 6 types of leaf arrangements: simple, compound, palmate, even-pinnate, odd-pinnate, and bipinnate.

Each of the 6 types of leaf arrangements includes:

  • a description card
  • a quiz card and an answer label
  • 1 name card with black/white image
  • 3 pictures of leaves

Also includes:

  • 2 highlighted examples of simple leaves
  • 2 highlighted examples of compound leaves
  • 1 control chart

The cards are in a three-part format:

  • cards with labels
  • cards without labels
  • labels

To use three-part cards, match the labels to the corresponding pictures. Verify the matches using the control cards with the labels.

Cards are approx. 3½" x 3¾", control chart is 8½" x 11".
