Vertebrates of South America Sorting

The purpose of this lesson on vertebrate sorting is to assist children in identifying, sorting, and classifying the five classes of vertebrates found in South America, thereby enhancing their understanding of animal classification.

Identify and classify the pictures of vertebrates. Then, verify the classifications using the control chart. The five classes of vertebrates are: Amphibians, Birds, Fish, Mammals, and Reptiles.

Includes:

  • 5 category cards
  • 15 picture cards (3 for each class)
  • 1 control chart

The picture cards are in a 3-part card format:

  • 15 cards with labels
  • 15 cards without labels
  • 15 labels

To use three-part cards, match the labels to the corresponding pictures. Verify the matches using the control cards with the labels.

The cards with labels are approx. 3½" x 3¼", the cards without labels are approx. 1" shorter, the labels are approx. 1".
