Forms of Energy

The Montessori science curriculum encourages children to explore their world while nurturing their sense of wonder.

Energy exists in various forms, including mechanical, chemical, electrical, thermal, radiant (light), sound, and nuclear energy. Additionally, energy can be transformed from one form to another.

This set includes the following concepts: energy, potential energy, kinetic energy, and the seven forms of energy.

Identify and classify the seven forms of energy. Then, verify the classification using the control chart.

Includes:

  • information cards
  • definition cards
  • illustration of how energy is changed from one form into another
Both types of energy (potential and kinetic) and each of the seven forms of energy include the following:
  • category cards
  • brief definition card
  • card with 3 examples
  • 4 picture cards with labels

Also includes:

  • 1 control chart for the two types of energy (kinetic and potential)
  • 1 control chart for the seven forms of energy (chemical, nuclear, thermal, electrical, radiant, mechanical, sound)

To create a set of 3-part cards, print the cards twice. Cut the labels off one set and leave them intact on the other. To use three-part cards, match the labels to the corresponding pictures. Verify the matches using the control cards with the labels.

The cards are approx. 3¾" x 3¾", control charts are 8½" x 11" and 8½" x 14".
