Types of Leaf Shapes & Leaves

Studying leaf shapes is beneficial because it enhances observation skills, encourages children to connect with the environment, and introduces them to botany. This activity also helps develop visual discrimination and classification abilities.

Identify and classify leaf shapes. Verify the classification using the control chart. This set contains 18 leaf shapes from the Montessori botany cabinet, each accompanied by two photographs.

Leaf shapes included: orbiculate, linear, deltoid, ovate, lanceolate, elliptical, obovate, reniform, spatulate, obcordate, sagittate, hastate, cordate, acerose (aciculate), cuneate, peltate, fan-shaped, and oblong.

Cards are approx. 3½" x 3½", control charts are 8½" x 11". There are 2 control charts included; one labeled acerose and one labeled aciculate.
